Food-Cleansing Bath

Ok, so you have your fresh produce home from the store and it looks so colorful and juicy and perfectly yummy! But before you dig in– give it a dunk…in a food-cleansing bath!

It is a Clorox bath- yes, as in bleach. But let’s be clear that Clorox is NOT the same as chlorine. Ya with me? Use 1 teaspoon of Clorox to 1 gallon of purified water. Place foods to be treated into the bath and let sit (time duration listed below). Then place them in clean water for ten minutes, then rinse. Dry thoroughly and store. Badda-bing– clean produce!!

How long to soak?

- Leafy vegetables: 15 minutes
- Root, thick-skinned, or fibrous veggies: 30 minutes
- Thin-skinned fruits (berries, plums, peaches, and apricots): 30 minutes
- Thick-skinned fruits (citrus, bananas, and apples): 30 minutes
